Upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross: A Quick Sneak-Peek

Spread the love

Today, on November 21st, 2022, the Japanese carmaker Toyota unveiled one of their highest-selling MUVs in Indonesia. Moreover, as for the Indian markets, Innova has been among the bestselling Toyota cars in the country.

According to the images and a few past teasers released by the carmaker, the new Hycross is a feature-loaded vehicle. The Japanese carmaker has stepped up its game in the design language. In short, it has an elevated sense of design.

Moreover, you’ll learn more about its features and specifications that are present in the Indonesian-spec of the Hycross. You can expect the same offerings in the Indian version of this MUV.

Yes, the upcoming Innova is one of the most anticipated vehicles. The official unveiling of the Indian spec will take place on November 25th 2022. Further, the official launch may take place in January 2023.

The official bookings will commence on the same day. However, some dealerships are taking bookings ahead of its launch at an average price of Rs 50,000.

So, let’s begin taking a peek into this MUV.

For starters, let’s talk about the platform. Unlike the Innova Crysta’s ladder-frame chassis with a rear-wheel drivetrain, the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross gets a monocoque chassis with a front-wheel drive layout. Yes, you read it right. The carmaker axed the ladder-frame chassis and RWD to reduce weight and increase fuel efficiency. Moreover, the new monocoque chassis is known as TNGA-C. This platform underpins internationally sold vehicles like the Toyota Noah/Voxy (R90) and the Toyota Corolla Cross.

The Indonesian iteration of the Toyota Innova Hycross gets a 2.0-litre petrol unit (M20A-FKS) that produces 150bhp and 187Nm of torque. On the contrary, the 2.0-litre strong-hybrid petrol unit (M20A-FXS) can produce 111bhp and 206Nm of torque. As far as the transmission options are concerned, the naturally aspirated petrol engine gets Toyota’s Direct Shift CVT, while the hybrid engine gets an eCVT gearbox.

The Japanese carmaker has dropped the 2.4-litre petrol and 2.7-litre diesel engines. Like other car manufacturers nowadays, Toyota has also downsized its engines.

As for the Hycross mileage, it might range between 20 kmpl and 25 kmpl. Please note that these are not ARAI-claimed and are just assumed figures.

It is also worth mentioning that the carmaker hasn’t made any statements regarding offering the Innova diesel. However, at the same time, it seems that the Japanese carmaker is planning to expand its portfolio of hybrid cars in India

The third generation of the Toyota Innova includes a long list of features and probably a long waiting list. It won’t be surprising, even if the latter is true. But besides that, the 2023 Toyota Innova includes a panoramic sunroof for the first time. Due to this, the A/C vents are now on the sides of the roof liner. It also has a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, connected car technology, etc. Since this is a new generation with a complete makeover, the new Hycross gets a newly laid-out dual-tone interior with leather upholstery that looks plusher than before. Speaking of which, the Indonesian version of the Innova Hycross has diamond-cut seats, which make the cabin look luxurious.

The most noticeable change is the vertically laid-out centre console that houses a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Then there’s the HVAC control panel, followed by a gearbox housing. All in all, the 2023 Innova Hycross can pamper the passengers with its added features!

On the driver’s side, there is a leather-wrapped steering wheel paired with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Moreover, the steering wheel can let the user access several features. There are also several storage compartments on the door panels and other places inside the car.

Furthermore, the second row might also get a 10-inch touchscreen display for each passenger.

Customers can expect standard safety features like a rear-view or 360-degree camera with adaptive guidelines, hill assist, hill hold control, traction control, ABS with EBD, VSC, and a tyre pressure monitor, among others. Considering the size and purpose of this vehicle, it might get at least seven or six airbags. It also gets an electronic parking brake. Please note that these features are from the top-most variant of the Innova Hycross. Several other features may vary across the variants, so it’s best to visit your nearest dealership. At the same time, this MUV might receive ADAS as well. The ADAS technology includes an autonomous emergency braking system, front-collision warning, lane-change assist, etc.

Variants and Prices

The Indonesian-spec Toyota Innova Hycross has three trim levels: G, V, and Q. The G and V trims have optional hybrid engines, whereas the Q has a standard hybrid engine.

Moreover, the Innova Hycross might get a six-, seven-, or eight-seat layout, but only time will tell. The Toyota Innova Hycross’s expected ex-showroom price (New Delhi) might range between Rs 23 lakh and Rs 33 lakh. So, these were a few things about one of the most anticipated MUVs.
